Deputies continue their efforts on the war on drugs, five arrested.

On March 26, 2016, deputies with the Scott County Sheriff’s Office responded to 2368 Wingate Road in Lexington, Indiana to follow up on a tip involving drug activity.

On arrival, deputies made contact with one of the residents, Chad Earl (age 35). While a deputy was speaking with Earl, other deputies made contact with additional people inside of the residence who were identified as Christopher Hammill (age 36), Misty Sanchez (age 38), Tiffany Vernon (age 26) and Tamra Cutshall (age 20).

After speaking with Earl, deputies began searching the residence. During the search, deputies located methamphetamine, heroin, and paraphernalia throughout the residence associated with methamphetamine and heroin use.

Earl was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of a narcotic drug (heroin), maintaining a common nuisance, and possession of paraphernalia. Hammill was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of a narcotic drug (heroin), maintaining a common nuisance, and possession of paraphernalia. Sanchez, Vernon and Cutshall were all three arrested and charged with possession of paraphernalia and visiting a common nuisance.

Sheriff McClain encourages the citizens of Scott County to report any suspicious activity, including drug activity, to the Scott County Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff McClain reminds the citizens that the Sheriff’s Office maintains several options for reporting criminal activity anonymously including the department’s website, Facebook page, and a tip line.
